Team registration is now open for US Quidditch Cup 12. The hotel request form will go live on Tuesday, December 4.
Full information on team registration is available here.
Per USQ’s stay and play policy, teams are required to stay a minimum of two nights for this event. The hotel reservation process is the same as last season.
The hotel request form will go live on Tuesday, December 4 at 5 pm ET. It will be emailed out to all teams at that time, posted on social media, and listed on the US Quidditch Cup website. All teams, even those who have not qualified yet for the tournament, may fill out the hotel request form when it goes live.
USQ staff will assign teams to hotels in the order that teams fill out the form, though availability is divided equally among teams that qualify through fall regional championships, spring regional championships, and at large (see below for more information). Please note that the deadline for this step in the registration process is before the primary team registration deadline.
For assigning hotels, team have been divided up into three groups: those who qualify through fall regional championships, those who qualify through spring regional championships, and those who qualify through at-large bids. There is an equal number of rooms available for each group at each price point. Hotels will be assigned to teams based on the order teams fill out the form and what is available in their group.
Once a team fills out the hotel request form, it will receive an email with instructions on how to book their hotel accommodations, but only if it has already qualified. Teams who haven’t qualified yet may be permitted to book their accommodations on a case by case basis. As mentioned above, teams must fill out the hotel request form before they reserve hotels. Request and reservation are separate steps in the registration process.
For questions about the registration process, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Information on tickets, volunteering, officiating, and more will be available after Thanksgiving.

Snapchat is covering the US Quidditch Cup 10 with an Our Story on April 9th. Our Stories allow Snapchatters at the same event or location to contribute their unique perspectives through video and photo Snaps to one collective narrative, capturing the real story, straight from the fans and people at the event. A team at Snapchat curates the thousands of submitted Snaps and packages them into a brief video that can be broadcast to millions of users right on their phone. If you’re at the event, it’s easy to submit your Snaps to the Our Story – simply take a photo or video Snap, tap send and choose to submit to the US Quidditch Cup 10 Our Story. After you take your Snap, swipe left to find cool geofilters. If your Snap is selected by the team at Snapchat, it will be included in the Our Story and available for all Snapchatters to see for 24 hours.
USQ is proud to announce it is finalizing preparations for the development of a documentary to be filmed at US Quidditch Cup 10. Entitled Why We Play, the documentary will focus on the unique nature of quidditch, the sport’s development over time, and the devotion of its player-base.
About Why We Play
Why We Play is a full-length documentary produced by USQ that will follow both pre-determined and developing storylines from throughout the weekend of US Quidditch Cup 10. USQ will be assisted by the MU Film Crew, based out of the University of Missouri, as well as several volunteers from the quidditch community. Taking inspiration from a variety of sports documentaries of the last 25 years, the production team will use interviews of players, volunteers, and spectators at the tournament along with other footage to craft the final product. Filming will begin the Thursday before US Quidditch Cup 10 and continue through the tournament, ending with a final round of interviews on Sunday night long after the final snitch has been pulled.
A Documentary Made By the Community
I wish I could say it was possible for a single individual to understand the diverse nature of our sport, the evolution of quidditch, and the nuances of our community, but as with every other sport, that is far from reality. USQ is openly inviting members of the community to share their stories regarding quidditch. Interview stations will be available on April 8 and 9 for players to have the option of being interviewed regarding their quidditch experiences.
Likewise, any individuals who wish to volunteer to assist with the documentary are invited to submit a form below, as we are looking for individuals with experience in journalism and film to join the production team. Please fill out the link here if you are interested in taking part, and we will follow up by the following day with additional details.
Michael Pascutoi is the increasingly sleep deprived editorial coordinator for US Quidditch. Please send all inquiries to email@example.com or via carrier pigeon.

If you prefer a more relaxing atmosphere, join US Quidditch Cup 10 staff and US Quidditch volunteers at Splitsville in Disney Springs after the closing ceremony on Sunday, April 9! We will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Party in honor of the incredible individuals who do so much to support US Quidditch throughout the season. Information on discounted food and bowling packages for teams will be available later this month.
